For the first time in Canada’s history, our population of seniors exceeds that of children and a higher proportion of those over the age of 85 are living alone – challenging our community, healthcare providers, housing and social agencies to come up with new solutions to supporting Canada’s seniors.*

Covenant’s Network of Excellence in Seniors’ Health and Wellness was established to tackle this challenge through investment in practical, grassroots, locally designed innovations aimed at enabling seniors to live to the fullest of their capacity as active and connected members of their communities.

Results of Network investments through its  Innovation Fund awards are already beginning to have impact, but that impact will only grow if the knowledge is shared. That’s why the Network is pleased to announce the launch of its new website.

Here, you’ll find the information, tools, processes, and insights gained from Network investments across the full range of care and service settings. You’ll find summary reports on six Network-hosted community outreach campaigns and symposia where seniors, care partners and interested members of the public explored issues facing family caregivers; definition of ‘care that honours seniors’; articulation of aspects of senior friendly communities; and priority setting for senior friendly care in Covenant sites. You’ll also find a listing of upcoming events and have a chance to promote your seniors care related event (email).

The website profiles the best of seniors’ care story-telling through Covenant’s Vital Beat. The website and its resources will grow along with our growth in knowledge. So visit often, bookmark the site, and join the Network in creating care that honours seniors province-wide.
