Medical Leader Orientation & Resources

From managing the day-to-day relations between physicians, Covenant Health and Alberta Health Services (AHS), to contributing to the long-term reform of our healthcare system, medical leaders have a great deal of responsibility.

Covenant Health medical staff administrative leadership, management and advisory roles have been established and are maintained in areas that support the strategic and operational objectives of Covenant Health to make best use of both Covenant Health’s financial resources and limited practitioner resources.

As a key player in Alberta's integrated healthcare system, our facilities provide healthcare services, including acute care, continuing care, assisted living, hospice, rehabilitation, respite care, and seniors' housing. Together, as visionaries, we are committed to walking out Mission and Values in all we do, continuously improving quality and safety for our patients and staff, responding to all those in need, building and engaging a dynamic team and working closely with our community.

This Medical Leadership Orientation manual is designed to supplement the orientation materials provided to all medical staff by Covenant Health.

  • Physician Learning Institute (PLI) Courses: Visit the PLI page to see what courses are coming up in your zone. If you find a course that interests you, please fill out our PLI Registration Form.
  • Learning Resource Navigator (LeaRN)  LeaRN is an interactive web-based application that allows users to search for courses and resources on a variety of leadership topics both internal and external to the organization. In addition to searching for resources, Physicians are able to create an account that allows them to track courses they have taken or wish to take and to leave reviews on resources they have used and courses they have completed. These reviews can then assist other users as they seek out meaningful and useful resources in developing their own learning plans. The LeaRN application is outside the AHS network and is mobile device friendly.  Click to Access
