Staff access
All staff and physicians are to wear their hospital issued identification cards while on facility property. Staff may access the Emergency Department after hours with their ID card. While security of the facility is the primary business of Protective Services, safety is the responsibility of all staff. Please do your part to promote a safe environment and redirect visitors to the ER entrance after hours rather than let them in at staff entrances.

Lost and found
Items are kept for a 14-day period (valuables for 60 days). Any unclaimed items are discarded or donated to charity. Missing items may also be reported to Security.

Vehicle assistance
Protective Services will provide assistance in contacting tow trucks and documenting damage to vehicles occurring on property. Peace officers may direct the owner to inform police if vehicle damage is incurred. Booster cables are available from Facilities Management but maintenance staff and peace officers are not to aid in the boosting of vehicles.

Escorts
Protective Services patrol the exterior of the building during shift changes. They will patrol on foot or drive a white Ford Escape, which has "PEACE OFFICER" on the vehicle. A peace 0fficer can be contacted to provide an escort for staff to their vehicle at night upon request. If you notice something out of the ordinary please advise Security immediately.

Help phones
Help phones are located at the northwest staff entrance and P4 west parking lot entrance.

Investigations
Protective Services investigates any incident that occurs on property. Staff should immediately report any suspicious activity or abusive behaviour from patients, family members or the public.
