Infection Control

The purpose of Infection Prevention and Control is to facilitate, participate, and collaborate in activities that prevent health care associated infections in patients, staff, and visitors. This is achieved through the integration of the knowledge and skills of all key stakeholders in health care delivery. Management personnel, frontline healthcare workers, patients, their families and the Infection Prevention and Control program must all work in collaboration to promote safety in practice and prevent infections from occurring

  • Standards and Review Processes

Infection Prevention and Control activities are based on current research and standards of practice, published standards and guidelines, and related legislation and accreditation requirements.

Preventing the transmission of infections in health care facilities is a major challenge.  The human and financial cost of health care associated infections is immense, and is on the rise. The Covenant Health IPC team is committed to patient safety at all levels of the organization, through supporting and promoting an environment that encourages infection prevention and control best practices.
